Jamie Won at Radio Times' "Best Breakthrough Actor of 2013" Poll

Radio Times - The votes are in, all 9,773 votes have been counted, and we can reveal that Jamie Dornan is RadioTimes.com’s breakthrough actor of 2013.

After weeks of voting, The Fall actor took 25.24% of the vote with a whopping 2,467 votes.

We don’t have a trophy, or crown or… well anything. But we’re sure he’ll feel a warm glow inside from the end result.

Dornan has appeared in various series, including US fairytale Once Upon a Time as well as playing a mysterious young longer in Shadows in the Sun. He also stripped off for a few saucy Calvin Klein ads.

But this year it was Dornan’s part in BBC2’s five-part drama The Fall that blasted him onto our screens in rather memorable fashion. Indeed, the chilling drama saw Dornan take on the role of Paul Spector, a serial killer who stalks young women before killing them in their own homes in grotesque detail.

Adult drama this definitely is.

And talking of adult entertainment, Dornan has since been cast as Mr Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of E L James’s novel Fifty Shades of Grey. Dornan will also return to series two of The Fall, which is expected to return at the end of next year.

But it wasn’t a walk in the park for the Northern Ireland-born actor to win the poll. Oh, no. He had rather stiff competition from this year’s runner-up Jenna Coleman.

The Doctor Who actress finished with 2,319 votes (23.73%) with her closest rival being The White Queen’s Aneurin Barnard with 1, 168 votes (11.95%).

Fellow The White Queen star and Fresh Meat’s Faye Marsay landed fourth spot with 634 votes (6.49%) and The Wrong Mans star Mathew Baynton took fifth with 629 votes (6.44%).
