'The Fall' Season 3 Will Be Final Season of the Show + New Cast Members

Brace yourselves, Dornan addicts - BBC Two has confirmed that The Fall is coming to an end, as filming begins on the final series.

Jamie Dornan will reprise his role as terrifying Paul Spector, opposite Gillian Anderson as his nemesis DS Stella Gibson.

Good news for Colin Morgan too, as his DS Tom Anderson will also appear in the third series - now shooting in Belfast.

Series two of the BAFTA-nominated thriller - aired in 2014 - ended on a cliffhanger climax, with both Spector and Anderson badly wounded by a rogue gunman.

Joining Dornan, Anderson and Morgan for the final five episodes are new cast-members Ruth Bradley (Humans), Richard Coyle (Crossbones), Aisling Bea (Trollied), Krister Henriksson (Wallander) and Aidan McArdle (Mr Selfridge).

Series regulars John Lynch (Jim Burns), Valene Kane (Rose Stagg), Emmett J Scanlan (Glenn Martin), Stuart Graham (Matt Eastwood), Bronagh Waugh (Sally Ann Spector) and Aisling Franciosi (Katie Benedetto) are also set to return.

Series creator and writer Allan Cubitt said: "I've been on a very exciting journey over the last five years with Stella Gibson and Paul Spector - the central characters of The Fall - and I'm thrilled to have recently started filming the third instalment of their macabre, obsessive dance of death.

"Gillian and Jamie have lived and breathed those characters during that time and I've been incredibly well-served as both writer and director by their stellar performances.

"Obviously I don't want to give anything away about how the third series will end but I can say that I am looking forward to working with both Gillian and Jamie again in the near future!"

NEW Pictures of Jamie at W Magazine's Golden Globes Party (January 8)

Article

The Wrap - Staring down the barrel of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” press tour, Jamie Dornan has gone the way of Mark Burnett, Joaquin Phoenix in his “I’m Still Here” phase, and his predecessor in Christian Grey, Charlie Hunnam: a beard. (Of note, Dornan and Hunnam have met long before “Fifty Shades” entered the picture he said.)

Dornan told a friend that the beard is in part to try to distance himself from the character Christian Grey. He and fellow Brit Eddie Redmayne spent lots of time buddied up in one of the more private living rooms, which would become an unofficial Brit embassy.

'Fifty Shades of Grey' and 'The Fall' Featured in Total Film (November 2014)

50 Shades Of Grey

Bound and gagging for it.

The erotic adventures from the least appropriate book to ever grace a commute to work are nearly here. Dakota Johnson stars as literature student Anastasia Steele who interviews enigmatic billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and gets drawn into his dark world of slap and tickle. While Nowhere Boy director Sam Taylor-Johnson lends the film some credibility, the question remaind: if the BBFC censor the sexy-times, will there be much of a story left to tell?

The Fall

The x-rayed files.

Gillian Anderson promises "an even darker second season" for Allan Cubitt's smartly clammy serial-killer drama: good news for those who thrilled to series 1's Twitter-inciting cliffhanger. With Jamie Dornan's bad-dad Paul Spector still loose and Anderson's driven DSI Stella Gibson in ice-cool pursuit, details from Spector's past emerge as the lives of hunter/hunted entwine. Belfast remains the playground for tha cat/mouse games, but stakes will raise and there will be blood.

'Once Upon A Time' Producers Talk About Their Plans For Jamie's Character

EW: During season three, executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis revealed to reporters that they had a plan for Jamie Dornan to return as Sheriff Graham, a.k.a. the Huntsman, who died in season one after Regina crushed his heart. Ultimately, Dornan couldn’t make it work because the actor was busy shooting Fifty Shades of Grey. At the time, the Once bosses couldn’t even reveal their initial plans, and now it’s clear why: Sheriff Graham would’ve appeared in the season finale, which featured Emma and Hook accidentally traveling back in time to the Enchanted Forest that was.

“We wanted a Peggy Sue Got Married moment,” Kitsis tells EW, explaining that Emma would’ve seen Graham when she was locked up in the Evil Queen’s castle.

“He would’ve been one of the guards because it would’ve been during that period,” adds Horowitz. “She would’ve seen him, and it would’ve been heartbreaking for her because she would’ve wanted to reach out to him, but knowing that—because she’s on a mission—she couldn’t. It wasn’t a big plot thing, but it was an emotional moment that we wanted to do.”

So, unless there’s more time traveling in the future, don’t expect to see the Huntsman back anytime soon.

Jamie is on The Playlist's "On The Rise 2014: 12 Actors To Watch" List

Jamie Dornan

With a role in one of next year's most hotly anticipated films, Jamie Dornan could be a star in the making. The 32 year Northern Irish actor (distantly related to 1940s star Greer Garson) started off as a model for the likes of Calvin Klein while simultaneously playing in folk band Sons Of Jim, but despite making a brief acting debut in Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette," he was for years best known as Keira Knightley's swain. Better things for his career seemed to be on the way when he was cast as the Sheriff (and former Huntsman) in hit ABC series "Once Upon A Time," but he was killed off after only a handful of episodes in a shock plot twist. Third time was the charm though, and last year Dornan appeared opposite Gillian Anderson in "The Fall," a critically acclaimed BBC thriller series in which, cast firmly against type, he played the ordinary suburban father who's secretly a bitterly misogynist serial killer, his model looks making him almost incongruous yet effective in the part. It put Dornan on the map, and when Charlie Hunnam dropped out of Sam Taylor-Wood's upcoming adaptation of erotic literary blockbuster "50 Shades Of Grey," Dornan landed talked-about role in Hollywood, of billionaire/bondage enthusiast Christian Grey. The part has the potential to make him a lust object for billions, but Dornan actually has the acting chops to back it up, impressing in the recent Channel 4 drama "New Worlds" opposite Alice Englert. On the way, he'll appear in transatlantic romance "Flying Home," a supporting gig in the Bradley Cooper-starring untitled chef-themed movie, a second season of "The Fall," and "50 Shades Of Grey" hitting next Valentine's Day. After that, the world should be his oyster, and he's already started lining up projects, with an action movie at home in Ireland called "The Siege Of Jadotville," and some rumors that he might take the lead in Guy Ritchie's "King Arthur."

‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Trailer Scores Historic 100M Views In First Week

Deadline - In the week since Universal and Focus Features premiered the trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey, the 2 1/2-minute promo has become the biggest online trailer launch in history, the studio said.

The steamy adaptation of E L James‘ 2011 erotic bestseller tracks the love affair between a naive young woman and a dashing entrepreneur who was damaged as a youth and rejects intimacy. Sam Taylor-Johnson directs and Dakota Johnson stars as Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey. After strategically building up the July 24 trailer debut with teases on NBC’s Today and in Beyonce’s Instagram feed, Universal scored more than 100 million views across all platforms in a week. That is about the number of books sold globally.

Some of that staggering online success is more easily quantifiable than others, given the nearly 33 million YouTube views logged in a week from Universal’s two official uploads alone. “Fifty Shades Of Grey trailers are pulling monumental views” from two separate uploads this week, said RelishMix CEO Marc Karzen. The trailer on Universal’s YouTube channel attracted more than 13 million views, and its UK sibling did even better, with 19.3 million. “Add to that ripped and reposted versions on movie fan channels. It’s unprecedented for a film that’s six months out.”

Here’s a sampling of Fifty Shades‘ tear across social media in its first week: The 15-second teaser premiered unannounced to Beyonce’s 14 million Instagram fans on Saturday, July 19, notching 443,000 likes and over 85,000 comments in an unusual stroke of pop marketing synergy. The tease of a teaser featuring a breathy snippet of Beyonce’s Crazy In Love also aired in TV and digital spots for the next three days, and ran in a 30-second radio spot in 16 markets.

All that marketing foreplay led to the morning of July 24, when the full trailer dropped at 8:15 AM ET and became the most-watched trailer on YouTube that day in a surge of buzz that Ben Carlson of social network tracker Fizziology calls “simply unprecedented.” The trailer garnered 98,000 mentions per hour on Twitter and was the No. 1 Google-trending topic in the U.S., Canada, the UK, France, and Germany.

An additional 13 million uploads were viewed on additional platforms including Yahoo, IMDb, and Apple in addition to over 900,000 trailer views via unofficial YouTube uploads, according to Universal. It had over 40 million additional views on Facebook across the studio’s domestic and international channels as well as Beyonce’s Facebook page, where the trailer alone racked up 446,000 likes and 222,000 shares. Fifty Shades hit theaters February 13.

Fifty Shades: How Hollywood Made You Watch

The film's trailer exploded online (thanks, Beyonce!), highlighting how social media has become the new marketing bullhorn.

When Beyonce posted a 15-second teaser trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey on her Instagram in July, fan reaction erupted right on cue, proving that pop music's reigning diva plus first-look footage of  2015's most tremulously awaited erotic drama equals a match made in viral heaven.

So by the time a full-length trailer for the film arrived on July 24-featuring stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan in various stages of seduction (and undress), backed by a slowed-down torch-song version of Queen Bey's 2003 smash "Crazy in Love"- it trended worldwide almost instantly, paired with a tagline from the film's Twitter feed: "The wait is over."

Not quite. Though the trailer has gotten 90 million views on YouTube, the movie doesn't hit theaters until Feb14, 2015. But this kind of sustained marketing foreplay underscores a strategy increasingly employed by Hollywood. While teaser trailers are nothing new, a plug from Beyonce is. A star like her can focus attentin in our Age of Distraction and spread the word to millions of fans in mere seconds - fans who then share it with their friends just as fast. Studios have learned how to use our social-media culture to their advantage to generate fevered buildup to their potential blockbusters, sometimes even a year or more in advance of the actual film.

'Fifty Shades of Grey' Trailer Is Most Viewed Trailer of 2014

THR - The Fifty Shades phenomenon shows no signs of slowing down.

The first trailer for the erotic drama based on the best-selling EL James novel has racked up a stunning 36.4 million YouTube views since its release on July 24, according to technology firm Zefr, which tracks the numbers.

Fifty Shades had the best opening week for any trailer in 2014. The previous high was the 31 million views Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles got in its debut frame at the end of March. Godzilla and Transformers: Age of Extinction both notched 26.3 million views in their first weeks, while Dumb and Dumber Too did 23.5 million.

The Fifty Shades trailer was released so it could play before Lucy, the new action movie starring Scarlett Johansson.

‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Trailer Tops All Films on Social Media This Year

Variety - Saints are no match for sin on Facebook.

The “Fifty Shades of Grey” trailer surpassed a pair of religious films, “Son of God” and “Heaven is for Real,” to become the most active film year to date on the social media platform in the first 24 hours since it was released, according to data compiled by ListenFirst Media.

The full trailer received 1.2 million Facebook likes, shares and comments since its Thursday morning debut on NBC’s “Today,” leading the film to outperform all other non-franchise films released since January 2013.

In the first 24 hours since the spicy trailer’s launch, the social media platforms for the “Fifty Shades” film gained steam by attracting 986,000 new followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. With still six months until its theatrical release, the film now has more than 3.9 million fans on its social media platforms.

Since the trailer’s launch, “Fifty Shades” has received 374,000 Twitter mentions, according to data from FirstListen, who considered both hashtags and keywords referring to the pic. This compared  to the 237,000 Twitter mentions this summer’s romantic drama “The Fault in Our Stars” received the day it opened in theaters.

It made waves overseas as well in the first 24 hours since release, garnering 5.9 million views on The Universal UK YouTube channel in addition to the already 6.6 million views on the film’s YouTube channel powered in the U.S.

The most active demographic on Facebook that responded to “Fifty Shades” was 25 to 34-year-old women, according to data pulled by TV ad tracker iSpot.tv from social intelligence firm Wayin. “Fifty Shades,” which shares the young adult women demographic with “The Fault in Our Stars” surpassed the amount of mentions that “Fault” received on Twitter.

Universal’s film bows in theaters Feb. 13, 2015.

Variety: 5 Sexy Secrets from the ‘Fifty Shades’ Trailer

Variety - Helicopters! Elevators! Beds! Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele travel to such erotic venues in the first trailer for “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which Universal Studios unveiled on “Today” on Thursday morning. Here are five things we learned about the film, which opens on Valentine’s Day 2015.

(1) Jamie Dornan > Charlie Hunnam. There was pandemonium when Hunnam suddenly bailed on playing Christian Grey last fall, but it might have been a blessing in disguise for Universal. Hunnam looked disheveled when he recently appeared at TCA, to promote his TV series “Sons of Anarchy.” On the other hand, Jamie Dornan, a former male model, makes for a more plausible kinky businessman. He seems to be interpreting the role as a cross between Robert Pattinson in “Twilight” and Tom Cruise circa “Eyes Wide Shut.” This could work. And his abs, which are briefly on display, earn an A+, according to our panel of experts.

(2) This is Dakota Johnson’s movie. I’ve been skeptical about whether she could carry her first major film role, especially given her limited onscreen film parts in “The Social Network” and “Need for Speed” (where she barely registered). But Johnson, who opens the first 45 seconds of the trailer, seems up for the task of projecting Anastasia’s vulnerability. I especially like the way she scrunches down in her blue cardigan sweater before her first meeting with Christian. And she doesn’t flinch with terrible lines like, “There’s really not much to know about me — look at me!” Speaking of which...

(3) The dialogue will be as cheesy as “Twilight.” Exhibit A: “I’m incapable of leaving you alone.” “Then don’t!” Also, director Sam Taylor-Wood films Christian and Anastasia in the woods, with the sun streaming through the branches, like they are a grown-up version of Edward and Bella.

(4) The sex is still a question mark. “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which will be rated R, can’t be as explicit as E.L. James’ pornographic books. The trailer downplays the story’s eroticism, with merely a glimpse of Dakota tied up, making a not-safe-for-morning-TV sound.

(5) Beyonce’s remixed “Crazy in Love” is a good anthem for this story. But it would have been even better if she had a cameo in the film.

Trailer Grade: B+

THR: 5 Things to Know About 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Trailer

THR - Oh my.

The Internet was abuzz after the first trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey was released Thursday morning (both #FiftyShadesTrailer and Christian Grey were top trending topics on Twitter).

The trailer marks fans' first look at the adaptation of EL James' best-selling erotic novel. Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson star as troubled billionaire Christian Grey and naive college student Anastasia Steele in the Universal Pictures/Focus Features movie, which hits theaters Feb. 13.

The trailer keeps the focus entirely on Anastasia and Christian and their budding relationship, with other characters played by Marcia Gay Harden and Rita Ora shown only in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.
Here are five other things we observed about the movie:

1. Anastasia's (much-derided) catchphrase is nowhere to be heard.

The character has a penchant for saying "oh my" while learning about — and taking part in — Christian's extracurricular (read: BDSM) activities. In fact, she says it so much that readers took to the Internet to mock its overuse (one Amazon commenter who counted says she uses it 72 times in the first book alone). Still, it remains to be seen whether she will slip in the phrase in the actual movie.

2. "Mr. Grey will see you now."

Anastasia's first meeting with Christian — when she visits his office to interview him for her college newspaper — is a significant part of the trailer. That's the meeting during which he begins to take a strange fascination with her. "What about you? I'd like to know more about you?" he asks her. "There's really not much to know about me. I mean, look at me," she says. His reply? A very intense "I am."

3. Jamie Dornan is shirtless, of course.

Yes, the former male model does doff his shirt in the trailer — although presumably he'll strip down further for the actual movie, which is aiming for an R rating. Apparently deemed too racy for morning TV, the trailer was shown only partially in its debut on NBC's Today (the bondage scenes were left out).

4. The Red Room of Pain makes a (very brief) appearance.

Toward the end of the trailer, Anastasia asks Christian to "enlighten me" after he explains that his "tastes are very singular." He unlocks the door, and voila! For the next four seconds, we see flashes of Anastasia bound and blindfolded. We see the red leather couch. We see the riding crop (but no whipping). We see Anastasia let out a loud sigh of pleasure. And … cut to black.

5. Beyonce is indeed part of the soundtrack.

The singer posted a teaser about the movie Monday on her Instagram, which led to speculation about her involvement with the soundtrack. On Thursday, it was confirmed that she re-recorded her 2003 hit "Crazy in Love" featuring now-husband Jay Z for the movie. This new version is a much slower, stripped-down rendition of the song — and no Jay Z to be heard.

Universal Pictures Is Moving Forward With 'Fifty Shades Darker'?

The Tracking Board's report:

Universal Pictures is actively moving ahead with FIFTY SHADES DARKER, the sequel to “Fifty Shades Of Grey.” This news should not really come as a surprise to anyone. Universal is betting on the fact that their upcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” adaptation will make a lot of money, and I think that would be a pretty safe bet. With an estimated budget of $40 million I suspect they will not have a problem hitting that magical 1.5x the budget (to cover both production and marketing) in the first few weeks. Assuming the same group of people who bought tickets for the “Twilight” series (the first one was made for a similar budget and ended up grossing $192 million domestically) buy tickets for “Fifty Shades Of Grey” than this franchise will go strong no matter the quality of the actual film. Getting a head start is a smart move on Universal’s part, because the sooner they have a workable script, the sooner they can start production on the second installment of this cash-cow franchise.

Currently, more than 70 million copies of “Grey” have been sold, and the film is not even out yet, which always gives a book a boost. Remember that the first book was the fastest selling paper back of all time. So, that means if 11% (approximately) of the people who have bought the book go to see the movie, than it will reach the $60 million mark (based on the national average for movie tickets of $8.36). Those are good odds considering the love and fanaticism these books receive. Add to that the pop culture references to the books (in shows ranging from “The Office” to “Vampire Diaries”) over the past few years, and there is practically no one who doesn’t know something about these stories.

But for those of you that need a refresher, this sequel will continue the sexual saga of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Daunted by the singular sexual tastes and dark secrets of the beautiful, tormented young entrepreneur Christian, Anastasia has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a Seattle publishing house. But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist.

First footage from ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ debuts at CinemaCon (March 2014)

Yahoo Movies - Well hello there, Mr. Grey.

Christian Grey, that is, known to millions of book readers as the love interest du jour of E.L. James's hit "Fifty Shades of Grey," which Universal Pictures is bringing to the big screen next Valentine's Day. As part of their CinemaCon panel Tuesday, the studio served up a veritable buffet of trailer and teaser goodness, including the first look at footage from "Grey."

The nearly two-minute teaser opens with a cityscape look at Seattle, on a day with some sunshine but mostly grey skies. A soft, slow piano solo plays in the background (which sounds like an airy and eerie cover of Beyoncé's "Haunted") as we begin with Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) recounting her first meeting with Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) to her roommate, Kate (Eloise Mumford).

"So, what was he like?" Kate asks Anastasia, which we hear in voiceover as the scene of Anastasia and Christian's first meeting plays out.

"Mr. Grey will see you now," says his assistant to the brunette as she walks into Christian's very spacious, immaculate office. The initial exchanges are full of shy glances from Anastasia and fixed gazes from Christian.
