Sarah Gadon Talks About Filming of 'The 9th Life of Louis Drax' and Mentions Jamie
It was a test of her acting skills. Sarah Gadon, the Canadian actress and new face of Giorgio Armani Beauty, was about to film a scene with “Fifty Shades of Grey” hunk Jamie Dornan for their upcoming psychological thriller, “The 9th Life of Louis Drax.” It was their first scene together. It was a makeout scene. And she was sick with strep throat.
“The night before, I felt so guilty,” says Gadon, 28, during a lunch break for her Alexa photo shoot in her hometown of Toronto. Though her features are storybook-heroine dainty, Gadon’s manner is forthright and unfussy. Between shots, she scuffs around in a slouchy cardigan, and as she talks, she delicately devours a salad. It’s a testament to both her table manners and her Armani lipstick that the color stays perfectly unsmudged. “I kept thinking, ‘Jamie’s going to think I’m unprofessional, it’s going to ruin everything,’ ” she continues. “But in film the rule is, if you can stand up, you can work.”
She arrived on set prepared to apologize, until she found out that Dornan was also sick, with stomach flu. She’d never felt so relieved to kiss someone so germy. “I’m very curious to see how that scene turned out,” she says with a rueful grin.
