Dominique Deruddere Talks About Jamie
How did you come to cast Jamie Dornan – who was almost unknown at the time – in the lead role?
Dominique Deruddere: My casting directors in Britain had told me about him and several other actors. They sent me an uncut scene from this British TV series (The Fall) in which Jamie played a serial killer, so I saw him and thought he was obviously a very solid actor. I asked him to come over to Belgium to see if it would work with the couple of girls who had made it to the finals, so I could see how the couple could work. It turned out that Jamie and Charlotte De Bruyne (who plays Isabelle) were the ideal match.
Were you shocked when he then suddenly achieved international fame for 50 Shades of Grey?
Dominique Deruddere: Flying Home had finished filming already when he was offered 50 Shades. I remember reading in the newspaper that Jamie had been chosen to play the main guy, so I wrote him an email and made fun of him about it. All of a sudden he is now a world famous actor. I’m happy for him.
What’s Jamie’s character like in Flying Home?
Dominique Deruddere: He is a cynical banker who only thinks about money and has no respect for others. That changes when he comes to Belgium and meets regular people leading simple lives. He feels attracted to their lifestyle. And all the simplicity is symbolised in the pigeon, a bird that represents peace and love.

Jack Savoretti Mentions Jamie
Jack Savoretti: "My wife is an actress and she went to the National Youth Theatre with Rafe so I met him through that.
I met Jamie through another friends of mine, Amelia Warner, who is a wonderful actress and musician. We have all known each other since we were kids in our early 20s.
Only recently has Jamie been catapulted into stratospheric success. He has been working his socks off since the age of 18, so it is very well earned. And Rafe is one of the most gifted British actors around."

This is how it happened… We were having a lovely day, just browsing around the area, in and out of shops etc. it got later on in the after noon and we where just about to leave when I found that a bottle of perfume had leaked in my bag and over my can of drink, so heading to the shop to buy a new drink I spotted an Audi and I said to my friend, oh Jamie drives an Audi like I think… walking past I saw that there was someone inside looking through some paperwork and I did a double take when I saw it was THE ACTUAL JAMIE DORNAN!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!Sources: 1 | 2/via
I’d just like to clarify that I didn’t disturb him by knocking on the window or anything, i was too shocked to do that, he literally looked up and I grabbed the bull by the horns and just kind of motioned could I get a photo and like a complete legend he got out of the car and said "yes of course”. It happened so quickly and when getting my selfie with him I asked could I stand on the other side as its my better side and he laughed and said "yeah sure", he kind of made a joke of it saying something like ‘get both our better sides’, yeah really!!
I asked him if he had a good day (because my mind literally went blank) he said yes and asked us what we had been upto :)
I asked him if it would be ok to give him a gift for his daughter and I gave him one of my 'Shades of Kawaii' colouring books, some prints and stickers. He said “Wow, that’s cool”. (See the colouring book here: http://amzn.to/1NmfsP0)
Jamie’s grinning in my friend’s photo as i was shaking so much and completely flustered… COULD. NOT. BELIEVE. IT. WAS. HAPPENING!
We thanked him for his time and apologised if we disturbed him but he was so nice and it was only a couple of minutes. Honestly he was even more stunning in real life and looked really tanned. Definitely an experience I’ll never forget!!

EL James Mentions Jamie
E L James: "I saw these books at Frankfurt airport last month while I was travelling through. The cover is from one of the iconic moments in the book and seeing these reminded me of when we shot this scene for the movie. During the first take Jamie pounced on Dakota - taking all of us, Dakota included, by surprise. It was a funny moment. I'm so glad this scene made it into the film."

'Nice To Meet You' Director Will Garthwaite Talks About Jamie
“Nice To Meet You” is one of the films in the Hollywood Short Film Program showing as part of the “Cinema Museum” special fall screenings hosted by Asia’s largest and only Academy Awards® qualifying international short film festival.
“Nice To Meet You” stars Jamie Dornan of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” While Dornan played a character with very particular tendencies in “Fifty Shades of Grey,” in “Nice To Meet You” he appears as a young man who seduces a mother and daughter. Though the film was made six years ago Dornan’s charm is clearly evident. We interviewed the film’s director Will Garthwaite, asking him about the highlights of this film and the casting of Jamie Dornan.

– Why did you cast Jamie Dornan in this role? (How did you meet him?)
Will Garthwaite: Because Trudie Styler was involved we were lucky to have a stream of top talent come and audition for the part (including Kit Harrington from Game of Thrones). Jamie was cast because he was the most likely of all the actors we auditioned to be a convincing sexual attraction and danger to the characters played by Trudie Styler and Mickey Sumner. Its a hard balancing act to find an actor who would reasonably appeal to both mother and daughter.

Irish Independent - Brian O'Driscoll (36) and Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie (33) took part in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship today, a golf event in Scotland, and judging by these photos, a budding bromance blossomed.
The lads were clearly enjoying their time on the green, particularly Jamie who wowed the crowd and the commentators when he eagled the 18th during the first round of the championship.
“That’s up there as one of the most amazing feelings of my life. Whatever your standard, you have your moments in golf when you play a great shot, but it’s usually on some dirt track of a course.
"To do that here at St Andrews, on the 18th, well, that’s the closest I am going to get to winning the Open.
He added: “It’s a shame Rory [McIlroy] wasn’t here to see that, but I’ll be texting him to let him know.”
Jamie has taken time out of a busy schedule to take part. He recently wrapped filming Anthropoid in Prague and is lined up for the Fifty Shades sequel Fifty Shades Darker and was spotted holidaying in Ibiza just last week.
