ET Online: If someone does die -- as your promo has promised -- what was the decision behind making that tough choice?

EK: Well, I can't comment on whether or not we're going to kill someone, but what I can tell you is our philosophy is we always do it to further the story. It is never taken lightly, it is never because of personal decisions, or this and that. These actors are our friends -- we love them. We love these characters, we love writing for them, but this show has stakes, and every once in a while, a death is used to further a character's arc or story -- be it for the good or the bad part of that person's emotional well-being.

AH: Going back to season one and the late, great Jamie Dornan, who was our first death on the show, no one loves Jamie more than me and Eddy -- except maybe Jamie's wife, but we're a close second -- and that was really difficult because that was always the plan. That was about the story and should someone pass away this season, it’s in that spirit. It's never easy, nor should it be. We take it very seriously. We know how attached fans get to the characters, and that really means a lot to us that fans get so passionate and so emotional about these characters -- and so do we. They're a part of us. We're writing and creating them, and telling their stories, so if and when we do let someone pass away, it's hard on us. It's hard on the writers, and it's hard on the cast and crew, but it's part of the storytelling process of a show like this.

Variety - We’ve already heard that a number of dead or otherwise absent characters are returning for the 100th episode, including Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), Cora (Barbara Hershey), Sidney Glass (Giancarlo Esposito), and the Blind Witch (Emma Caulfield). Can you reveal how we’ll see them, if not why? Perhaps in flashbacks, visions or another realm?

Edward Kitsis: How about all three?

Since it’s shaping up to be quite a reunion, have you been trying to get Jamie Dornan back?

Edward Kitsis: Jamie Dornan is the number one person people ask about and unfortunately, we cannot make it work, his schedule is too busy. We will not be seeing him… You find a star and then other people grab them and then don’t share them. We love Jamie and we wish him nothing but the best, and though we’re sorry not to see his face in the 100th, I think he’ll be there in spirit as Emma wears his shoelaces on her wrist.

"Jamie? Oh, he’s amazing. I see him like a very important part of Once Upon a Time. Despite the fact that he no longer works on the show, he starred in the first season, so he was with us from the start and all the things and the actors present from the beginning are perceived, in a way, as an important part of the show," confessed the actress symbol of the ABC television series, adding, "He’s really wonderful. Kind, nice, one of those people that everyone wants to have around. All the actors on the set and the members of the crew looked for him and got along with him. Jamie was able to pul out some ‘social adventures’ so that everyone could get to know and connect with each other." Jennifer Morrison concluded, "Jamie is really a nice person. He was a real glue to the group."

'Once Upon a Time' Producers Talk About Jamie

No suprise, Jamie Dornan won't be returning to "Once Upon a Time" any time soon.

On Tuesday, during a Q&A with press to promote the ABC show's midseason return, Executive Producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis fielded a question about whether there was a chance the "Fifty Shades of Grey" actor could come back as Sheriff Graham/The Huntsman.

"Uh… no," Eddy said, making the press chuckle with the way he delivered his answer.

"I would love to have Christian Grey back, in fact, when we were up there filming [Episode] 13 [of Season 4], we got to hang out with him… but I don't know if you know this, he's a huge movie star," Eddy continued, adding a little more humor in. "And his schedule is such that flying him back to Vancouver -- we'd love to have him and if the schedules ever worked out, everyone would be thrilled to have The Huntsman back."

Just to prove there was no possibility presently, Eddy pointed to Jamie's workload.

"I can tell you that his schedule this year is non-stop," Eddy said.

"The character lives on -- on DVD," Adam added.

Jamie returned to the show in Seasons 1 and 2, following his character's death, the last time in a Storybrooke origins plotline.

"Jamie's a great friend of us and he's like family to the show," Eddy said on Tuesday.

Jamie Talks About 'Once Upon A Time'

For three seasons now since Sheriff Graham (Jamie Dornan) was killed by Regina (Lana Parrilla) on "Once Upon a Time," fans have been trying to invent ways to bring him back from the dead.

Unfortunately, Dornan himself seems to have given up that ghost. While promoting the second season of his Netflix crime thriller "The Fall" at the winter TV press tour, Dornan reveals the truth that "Oncers" don't want to accept.

"I don't know," he says about Graham's return. "He's kind of dead." 

That doesn't mean there's any sort of love lost between Dornan and the show. He loved his time there and the crew, but there was a prime opportunity to bring Graham back into the fold recently and it didn't happen.

"I love those guys, [creators] Adam [Horowitz] and Eddie [Kitsis]. They're like family," Dornan says. "I was actually filming something on the same lot as them just before Christmas." 

Dornan laughs when it's pointed out that being on the same lot means it shouldn't be too hard to hop on over -- but if he was there and they didn't make it work, it dilutes the chances of Graham making a Storybrooke return.

However, the current storyline on "Once Upon a Time" revolving around the author of the storybook could very easily allow for a Graham reappearance. Even if he isn't brought back to life, surely there's room for him in the upcoming flashbacks.

"There are ways and means," Dornan says, uplifting that hope just once more, but then he sidesteps. "It's something that I'm not that privy to."

Is there reason to keep hoping he'll come back? It seems it might be time to finally let Graham rest in peace.

Regina, however, may be redeeming circumstances by herself by trying to rewrite the "Once Upon a Time" book of stories that seems to predict everyone's fate. If Regina is somehow able to rewrite history for the sake of her happy ending, we asked Morrison who of Emma's former beaus would she want to have a second chance at life.

"I think they should all come back!" Morrison says excitedly. "I feel like Jamie Dornan  was absolutely wonderful. Emma and Graham had a beautiful chemistry that was its own thing. I absolutely loved working with Michael Raymond-James and I feel like Emma and Neal had a chemistry that was different, but absolutely wonderful. Plus, who doesn't want a bunch of hot talented men around?"

'Once Upon A Time' Producers Talk About Their Plans For Jamie's Character

EW: During season three, executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis revealed to reporters that they had a plan for Jamie Dornan to return as Sheriff Graham, a.k.a. the Huntsman, who died in season one after Regina crushed his heart. Ultimately, Dornan couldn’t make it work because the actor was busy shooting Fifty Shades of Grey. At the time, the Once bosses couldn’t even reveal their initial plans, and now it’s clear why: Sheriff Graham would’ve appeared in the season finale, which featured Emma and Hook accidentally traveling back in time to the Enchanted Forest that was.

“We wanted a Peggy Sue Got Married moment,” Kitsis tells EW, explaining that Emma would’ve seen Graham when she was locked up in the Evil Queen’s castle.

“He would’ve been one of the guards because it would’ve been during that period,” adds Horowitz. “She would’ve seen him, and it would’ve been heartbreaking for her because she would’ve wanted to reach out to him, but knowing that—because she’s on a mission—she couldn’t. It wasn’t a big plot thing, but it was an emotional moment that we wanted to do.”

So, unless there’s more time traveling in the future, don’t expect to see the Huntsman back anytime soon.

It has taken two and a half seasons for Emma and Hook to have a clear road to romantic bliss on ABC's "Once Upon a Time". With Neal out of the picture, ending the torturous love triangle, the only thing stopping these love birds is themselves -- and maybe the cast saying they'd love for Storybrooke's handsome Huntsman (Jamie Dornan) to return. 

"I think Hook could take anyone, to be honest, but I'm bound to say that." Captain Hook actor Colin O'Donoghue brags to Zap2it in reference to any possible return of Sheriff Graham/The Huntsman. "Jamie is fantastic and a lovely guy. It'd be interesting to see how that would work, if there are any residuals from [Emma and Graham]."

Access Hollywood - “Once Upon a Time” producers revealed on Tuesday that they had hoped to bring The Huntsman/Sheriff Graham, the character played by Jamie Dornan, back for a visit during Season 3.

Due to the actor’s schedule playing Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film, and his work on the BBC Two’s “The Fall,” he won’t return to the ABC drama any time soon.

“Last year, when he did ‘Welcome to Storybrooke’ for us, it was fantastic to have him come back,” Executive Producer Edward Kitsis explained to reporters, when AccessHollywood.com brought up the now big screen hunk, during a sit down with TV writers. “He’s a friend of ours, he’s a friend of the show and unfortunately, this year, he goes right from the movie to ‘The Fall,’ so there was no – because they were shooting [‘Fifty Shades’] in Vancouver, we were hoping to…”

“And it’s funny… his part was always conceived as that seven episode arc in the first season… with the hope we could bring him back here and there as we’ve done,” fellow EP Adam Horowtiz chimed in. “But … it’s gratifying that everyone seems to have responded so well to his talent.”

When Access asked how Dornan’s character would have been written back into the drama, the producers said that question was better left unanswered until the end of Season 3.

“Ask us that after the finale,” Kitsis said. “And then we will tell you exactly what we wanted to do and then you will be so bummed that we didn’t get to do it, and then you will have the same look on your face that I do right now, which is sadness.”

“We miss him dearly,” Adam said.
