Director John Wells talks about Jamie and confirms that he has been cut from 'Burnt'

Jamie Dornan broke out as a movie star earlier this year thanks to his starring role in Fifty Shades of Grey, and was expected to appear on the big screen again next month in Burnt. However, Dornan’s part in the film — about a chef’s second attempt at making it in the restaurant business — has been removed, EW has confirmed.

“In making every film, cuts and adjustments in storylines inevitably occur. In the case of Burnt, Jamie’s role was a small cameo that he was kind enough to do for us and was part of Sienna Miller’s character’s backstory,” Burnt director John Wells said in a statment to EW. “We ultimately decided to focus on Adam Jones’ redemption story.”

Bradley Cooper tackles the starring role of Adam Jones, a one-time chef prodigy who got his start in Paris at age 16. After a huge professional failure, Adam heads to London for a second chance. Sienna Miller plays Cooper’s love interest, who presumably had a past with Dornan’s character.

“I was thrilled to have Jamie,” Wells continued. “His performance was fantastic.”

Next up for Dornan is a war thrille,r Anthropoid, and Netflix film, Jadotville, next year, along with reprising his role in BBC’s The Fall, which returns in 2016.

Harvey Weinstein delivered a strong slate at this year's Cannes presentation at the Majestic. 

He commandeered two jury members to greet the crowd. Jake Gyllenhaal stars in Antoine Fuqua's July release "Southpaw," a fighter picture, which Harvey surprised his staff by announcing they would show (to buyers? to press? no screening is yet slated) at Cannes. He said the film was invited to show in Cannes and because Gyllenhaal is a jury member, they opted not to participate. Todd Haynes' lesbian romance "Carol" (will it be "Brokeback Mountain" for gay women?) and Shakespeare's "Macbeth" starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard are both in competition.

Also on hand was jury member Sienna Miller, who stars in what she admits is a Bradley Cooper vehicle, "Adam Jones," about a rising hard-driving chef who has to learn how to work with his staff, including romantic interest Miller. (The film also stars Omar Sy, Daniel Bruhl, and Alicia Vikander.) It looks strong.

Bradley Cooper played a chef once before (on TV’s short-lived “Kitchen Confidential”), so he looks familiar in an apron as a reformed addict who wants to open a restaurant. If the Oscars gave awards for most eclectic cast, “Adam Jones” would be a frontrunner. The movie re-teams Cooper with his “American Sniper” costar Sienna Miller, who is continuing to make an admirable comeback, alongside Uma Thurman, Emma Thompson and Jamie Dornan (only seen for a second).

But there was some good stuff too. First up was an extended trailer for "Adam Jones," a new culinary-themed comedy starring and produced by Bradley Cooper, hoping to extend his recent stellar run. A one-time David Fincher project penned by "Locke" writer Steven Knight, it stars Cooper as a hot American chef in London, who having quit the "drinking, smoking and sniffing," sets out to mount a comeback with a new restaurant. Directed by "August: Osage County" helmer John Wells, it's a glossy-looking film that foregrounded some glitzy London locations and the romance between Cooper and his sous chef, Sienna Miller, and it's nice to see the latter getting some proper screen time after being mostly absent in "Foxcatcher" and "American Sniper."

It's not clear if it's going to be the next "Silver Linings Playbook," but it looks like a definite crowdpleaser in the making, and not just because we're fond of cooking-themed movies. Daniel Bruhl, Omar Sy, Emma Thompson, Alicia Vikander, Jamie Dornan, Lily James, Uma Thurman, Sam Keeley and Matthew Rhys also star, and it's opening on October 2nd.

But Don’t Forget About Bradley Cooper 

Though Bradley Cooper wasn’t in attendance, it’s clear that the Weinstein Company is also going to go hard on Adam Jones, a London-set chef drama starring Cooper and Gyllenhaal’s fellow jury member, Sienna Miller. From the trailer we saw, the John Wells–directed film seems like one of those Important, Difficult Man movies that Hollywood likes to make. It looks glossy and entertaining—and features an incredible supporting cast, including Jamie Dornan, Uma Thurman, and Emma Thompson—but maybe not quite serious enough to really have a stake in the awards race. Still, we’re plenty intrigued. If nothing else, it will be interesting to see Cooper play a chef again, 10 years after his series Kitchen Confidential ran for one brief season.

Collider - CinemaCon is underway in Las Vegas, which means plenty of promo posters and first looks at upcoming films. Steve is currently walking around and snapped a first look at the Adam Jones posters starring Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller.

Once upon a time, this film was called “Chef”, but it backed off of its title after Jon Favreau’s cooking film claimed it as well. Now titled Adam Jones (presumably the name of Cooper’s lead character), the plot is “revolves around a two Michelin Star chef in Paris whose ability to create explosions of taste is undermined by his badboy rants and diva behavior that destroy his career.” It sounds like it could be a lot of fun, but I’m curious to see if Wells can hit the same level of food-porn as Favreau’s movie.

The Fall star Jamie Dornan’s poised to have very a huge 2015 career-wise. He’s got the lead role in the much-anticipated sexy film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey opening in theaters this Valentine’s Day and he’s also keeping busy doing other feature films including the dramatic film The 9th Life of Louis Drax based on the novel by Liz Jensen. But it was for Netflix’s second season of The Fall that I had the opportunity to grab a few minutes with Dornan along with a couple of other journalists. Season two of the thriller is set to arrive on January 16, 2015 and during the winter TCA event he talked about The Fall and his character as well as little on Fifty Shades and whether he’d like to reprise his role on Once Upon a Time.

The Fall Season 2 Plot: “Set in Belfast, Northern Ireland, season two picks up immediately from where series one left off, with Gibson in pursuit of Spector. A personal link from Spector’s past opens up some clues for Gibson but provokes Spector in a way that threatens to jeopardize the whole investigation. Gibson is forced to take greater risks but the closer she comes to CAPTURING HIM, the more Spector trespasses into her private world, delighting in taunting and provoking her. As the net gradually tightens around him he becomes psychologically ever more dangerous and destructive.”

Are you prepared for how crazy this year is going to get for you or has it already begun?

Jamie Dornan: “Yeah, I don’t really know yet to be honest. I’m really only here to talk about The Fall so I guess so far this year feels pretty normal.”

Do you think Spector as a grief counselor understands that he is causing a lot of the trauma that he councils people for or has he completely compartmentalized it?

Jamie Dornan: “No, I think you’re dead-on. He’s all too aware of the damage he’s doing and I think that makes him all the more sinister, that he has an understanding of grief and how people deal with it and how to get people out of it. I think that makes it all the more sickening.”

Given your character and what’s in store, do you have a sense of how The Fall could continue past this season?

Jamie Dornan: “Yes, it’s something that I’ve spoken to Allan [Cubitt, writer/producer/director] about. I think he’s got different ideas about how it will continue either with me or if it will continue without me. That’s all sort of open. But, yeah, it’s whether there’s an appetite to have Gillian’s character try to track down another.”

Matthew Rhys Joins Cast of 'Untitled John Wells Project'

Deadline - Matthew Rhys has signed on to star alongside Bradley Cooper in the untitled John Wells-directed culinary project at The Weinstein Company. He’ll play Reece, the rival of Cooper’s chef character in the Steven Knight-scripted film. Cooper plays Adam Jones, a two Michelin Star chef in Paris whose ability to create explosions of taste is undermined by his badboy rants and diva behavior that destroy his career. Reece stands in the way of his comeback.

Produced by Stacy Sher, Michael Shamberg and Erwin Stoff, the pic is shooting in London through September 26 and Rhys joins the picture just after he wraps the WWII drama Darling Buds Of May. Harvey Weinstein is trying to cook up the right title after Jon Favreau released Chef, which was this TWC’s original title. Sienna Miller, Uma Thurman, Daniel Bruhl, Riccardo Scarmacio, Emma Thompson, Lily James, Omar Sy, Jamie Dornan, Sam Keeley, Sarah Greene and Alicia Vikander also star.

'Adam Jones' Now Titled As 'Untitled John Wells Project'

Deadline - The latest dish on the John Wells-directed cooking project with Bradley Cooper once called Chef: Harvey Weinstein has sent the just-announced title Adam Jones back to the kitchen. They’ll call it Untitled John Wells project until they whip up something tastier. All this arose when they were beaten to the table by Jon Favreau’s food truck film, and their plan to call the film Chef deflated like a bad souffle.

“Even though our writer Steven Knight claims we had the rights first, Jon Favreau killed us and made a great movie that we all love,” Weinstein told Deadline but wouldn’t say what potential titles were now on the menu. “And while our film deals with cooking it’s about different things… We tried to get Lee Daniels’ Chef Movie but Warner Brothers got there first and didn’t give it to us, so now we’re calling it the Untitled John Wells project.”

Weinstein was joking about last summer’s drama, when Warner Bros lawyers blocked TWC’s ask to use the title The Butler because WB had an early 20th century silent black and white short film in its library. It seemed like an apparent attempt to leverage  Weinstein into surrendering his claim to first dollar gross points on The Hobbit trilogy (like that would ever happen). Weinstein had the last laugh when he used the title Lee Daniels’ The Butler which, helped by the attention from the title fight, grossed $160 million worldwide on a $30 million production budget.

The Wells-directed culinary pic just started, shooting a couple days in New Orleans before moving to London. Cooper plays a bad boy Michelin Star enfant terrible chef who self destructs in Paris and has to repair his career and life. Sienna Miller and Uma Thurman, Daniel Bruhl, Emma Thompson, Omar Sy, Fifty Shades Of Grey‘s Jamie Dornan and Alicia Vikander star. Knight wrote the script and Stacy Sher, Michael Shamberg and Erwin Stoff produce, with Dylan Sellers, Julie Rapaport and Negeen Yazdi overseeing for Weinstein.

Jamie Confirmed for 'Adam Jones' + Uma Thurman Joins The Cast

THR - The Weinstein Co. recently changed the name of the film, which also stars Sienna Miller, Daniel Bruhl and Emma Thompson, from "Chef."

Uma Thurman has signed on to join Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller in The Weinstein Co.'s Adam Jones, which just kicked off principal photography.

The film, which was originally titled Chef, follows a rock-star chef (Cooper) who is known for his wild style and creating explosions of taste. Hoping to land his own kitchen and that elusive third Michelin star, he’ll need the best of the best on his side, including the beautiful Helene (Miller).

Daniel Bruhl, Riccardo Scamarcio, Emma Thompson, Lily James, Omar Sy, Jamie Dornan, Sam Keeley, Sarah Greene and Alicia Vikander also star.

The film, directed by John Wells, will spend two days shooting in New Orleans before continuing in London from July 27 to September 26.

Stacy Sher, Michael Shamberg and Erwin Stoff are producing the project, and Dylan Sellers, Julie Rapaport and Negeen Yazdi are overseeing production for The Weinstein Co.

Cooper plays the title character: a genius cook who returns to London after a period away from the kitchen, detoxifying.

Now he wants a third Michelin star, and assembles an A-list  line-up to help him.

Many of the actors spent a day with Marcus Wareing at his two Michelin-starred Marcus  restaurant at the Berkeley in Knightsbridge, to prepare for their roles.

Adam Jones, which has a script by Steven Knight, will start filming soon, in and around London.

Director John Wells and his casting team, with help no doubt from producer Harvey Weinstein, have gathered a cast that includes Emma Thompson, Daniel Bruhl, Riccardo Scamarcio (Italy’s answer to Brad Pitt), Lily James, Jamie Dornan and Alicia Vikander.

Cooper told me about Adam Jones (then titled Chef) two years ago. In the meantime, Jon Favreau made his own foodie movie, also called Chef, which has developed a cult following.
