Michael Fassbender is the most popular Irish actor, according to the ultimate fame barometer.
The Oscar-nominated star is the highest ranking celebrity on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) STARmeter rankings, which provide a snapshot of celebrity popularity based on the searches of millions of users on the site.
Liam Neeson is the second most popular, while Jamie Dornan is ranked third thanks to soaring interest since he wrapped Fifty Shades of Grey.
Managing editor with IMDB, Keith Simanton, said the rankings, which are updated on a weekly basis, reflect the behaviour of millions of users.
“The rankings are really dynamic. It’s based on the number of people who visit pages on the site.
“Liam Neeson is up there, Jamie Dornan and obviously Game of Thrones.”
The IMDB poll is one of the ultimate yardsticks of celebrity star power week by week as it changes with the popularity of the latest films and TV shows when fans go online to the database to search for the hottest new stars.
“It is an extraordinarily good indicator,” said Mr Simanton.
He said the site, which sees 190m visitors every month, reflects the current global popularity of Game of Thrones, with three of its Irish stars appearing in the top 10 celebrities on STARmeter.
1. Michael Fassbender
2. Liam Neeson
3. Jamie Dornan
4. Saoirse Ronan
5. Jack Gleeson
6. Jack Reynor
7. Michelle Fairley
8. Jonathan Rhys Meyers
