Bangor Football Club's Chairman Trevor Best: "Jamie is a Big Fan of Bangor"

Belfast Telegraph - Never mind Fifty Shades Of Grey, actor Jamie Dornan is partial to shades of yellow and blue. For the man who's about to become a household name and an instantly recognisable face to millions of people – especially women – around the world after the release of the blockbuster Christian Grey movie is a supporter of Bangor Football Club.

The handsome model-turned-actor who beat off stiff competition to get the role of the sado-masochistic Mr Grey makes no bones of his affection for the Seasiders.

His love affair with the team started when his father Jim was a director of the Clandeboye Park club.

And Jamie regularly went along to see the Seasiders in action.

Even now my spies tell me that Jamie is still a keen follower of Bangor's exploits and in the past has even sponsored a number of the team's players.

And, if Jamie can't make it in person to watch Bangor play, he apparently goes on the internet to keep up to date with their exploits.

Which isn't difficult because Bangor have one of the best websites in the business with their games recorded for screening on their own TV channel.

Even when Jamie was filming Fifty Shades in Vancouver, friends said he made sure he knew what was going on back home in Bangor.

Football club officials know all about their famous supporter.

"Yes it's true," says Bangor chairman Trevor Best. "He's probably our best known fan and we're proud to have him backing us."

But it hasn't been a particularly happy time football wise for Jamie who has been back home in recent months playing the role of serial killer Paul Spector in the TV series The Fall.

Not only did Bangor miss out on promotion to the Premier League but his other heroes Manchester United had their worst season for ages and suffered more beatings than Christian Grey's partners.
